Enjoying “Dirty” Ice Cream
by SassyMom on Oct.16, 2009, under Kids, People, Photo Hunt, Street Food
Since it’s free week on Photohunt today — I am sharing a photo of my daughter enjoying “sorbetes” or dirty ice cream. It’s a term called here in the Philippines for the unbranded ice cream sold in the streets. Of course, it is not actually dirty, however since it is sold via carts that roam the streets — like the one on the photo, people tend to be squeamish in eating these kinds of food. It is sold with wafer or sugar cones, plastic cups and bread buns.

To all my Photohunter friends, I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to a weekly meme. This will be every Monday entitled Pixelbug Weekend. It’s a way of showing how your weekend went through photos. Hope to see you this Monday.

Helloo!
We have those ice-cream things here too! I always get them with wafer. We don’t call them dirty ice cream though – awesome name!
Interesting and very nostalgic shot! ^^

I’m used to ice cream sold in cones and wafers and plastic cups, but bread buns are a new one on me!

Ah, we call it here in this side of our country, flavor of the road.
I used to love it as a kid too, would cry when I can’t buy even for just a single scoop.

We have ice-cream sold in carts too but they are not dirty because our Environment Agency has strict regulations on street hawkers selling food.
