Cars and little boys

by on Jul.27, 2010, under About Me, Kids

If dolls are for girls then cars are for boys.

My son’s fascination with race started early. At around 4 years old, he watches Formula 1 races on TV with his dad. It was their bonding moment and he even idolizes Michael Schumacher at that time.

After seeing the movie Transformer, he immediately fell in love with Bumblebee or the Camaro. Once we saw a real yellow Camaro in a car showroom, he told me, “Mom, when I grow up, I want to own a Camaro.” I told him that he can do whatever he wants as long as he works hard for it.

Dreaming big as I may say but with his tender age, I only want to inspire him to be the best he can be. Although I know how expensive it can be to maintain such a car, I would not be the one to dampen his spirits. Just like any hobby, if you are really passionate about it, you will work hard to subsidize your leisure pursuit. While your at it, you always want to have the best. It’s nothing different from jazzing up your car with original Chevy Camaro accessories. Just thinking about it, excites me already. I am sure my boy will be doubly excited.

It always nice to support your child’s dreams and imaginations, it fosters creativity and will inspire them to strive hard.

PBW44: A quiet weekend

by on Jul.25, 2010, under Kids, Pixel Bug Weekend

This weekend was definitely a quiet and relaxing one for me and of course, my family. It was raining the whole weekend, so we decided just to stay home and it was absolutely a breather for me. I got to finish a lot of my online tasks and did a lot of photo editing.

It was nice to see the family at home. Here’s my daughter doing her favorite past time — reading! Yes, reading using her PSP. She turns into an e-book! She’s not much into the games so she uses it to read. I honestly do not approve with this because I am afraid it will put so much strain on her eyes but it’s hard to argue with teenagers so I just let it be, as long as she takes a rest.

And of course, here’s my little boy doing what he does best … Annoy her sister!

You might be thinking, good thing my daughter does not get annoyed! Well, that all depends on her mood. There are times where she gets easily irritated and this picture will definitely result in a brawl. This time around, she is definitely in a light mood. She just let her little brother be. I guess she’s so engrossed with her reading :-)

The whole gang also requested me to cook their all-time favorite spaghetti, so I gladly obliged. You can find the recipe here.

It’s definitely one relaxing weekend. I hope you all enjoyed your weekend too!

PHOTO HUNT: Hanging

These photos were taken last summer during our exhilarating escapade at Subic Tree Top Adventure.

Here’s my son hanging as he was rappelling down a 60-foot tree.

And this is my daughter hanging as she was about to rappel down.

PBW43: An afternoon at Centris Walk

by on Jul.18, 2010, under Kids, Parks and Recreational Places, Pixel Bug Weekend

Last Saturday, we decided to drop by Centris Walk and check out what stores are already open. To my delight, my favorite Frozen Yogurt store, Tutti Frutti, is already open. We asked Hubs to drop us off there while he is in a meeting.

Tutti Frutti a Centris Walk

We discovered that they placed a small playground in the middle. Sadly for my daughter and his friends they could only sit on the slide for a pose. Since the guards were strict on the age limit, only kids ages 5-12 are allowed.

Iana and Nicole

So it was only my lil’ boy (who is not so little anymore) who enjoyed the playground.

He even rode the carousel. Look at him enjoying the ride even though he’s quite big for it. I’m savoring this moment while he still feels like a child cause soon I know he’ll find this too childish.

After that very enjoyable afternoon, the kids gladly accompanied me to do the weekly grocery.

Weekends are really something I look forward to especially when I spend it with my kids. No matter what we do, even if we just stay at home, it’s the time together that I find very fulfilling. It’s priceless.

What about you? How did your weekend go? I hope you also enjoyed your weekend. Share it with us….
