PBW63: Christmas Fair

by on Dec.13, 2010, under Christmas, Events, Pixel Bug Weekend

We’re back at my son’s school this Saturday, this time it’s their school’s Christmas Fair.

Yes, I accompanied him for soon I know he would not want me to join him just like his sister :-) There were lots of activities going on and as we waited for their performance, my friends decided to play the Bingo.

Luckily, one of my good friends won the “Blackout Bingo”. Congratulations to you and your family!

Then, it was the boy’s turn to show us their presentation. Truly, I am savoring these moments with my youngest, cause when he hits the teenage years… he’ll be on his own. By then, at least I can say that I have spent precious time with him.

My schedule’s getting crazier as Christmas approaches… Pardon my late post. Hope you all have a great week ahead!

PBW62: Celebrating Family Day

by on Dec.05, 2010, under About Me, Events, Kids, People, Pixel Bug Weekend, Special Occasion

One of the things that are keeping me busy as a bee the past few weeks, is the preparation my son’s family day in school. Being a parent representative for their section, there were lots of tasks to prepare for Saturday’s big event.

Family days are conducted to promote unity amongst each member of the family and the school through presentations and other fun activities in an atmosphere of Goodwill and Camaraderie. There were celebrity guests, magician, and a variety of performance showcasing the talents from the students. Below is a photo op with Christian Bautista, and my fellow parents.

Of course, a family day will not be complete without games. In which, I together with a co-parent hosted.

Whew! That’s the highlight of our weekend. I hope you and your family had a fabulous as well.

PBW61: It’s already Advent!

by on Nov.28, 2010, under Kids, Pixel Bug Weekend

This Sunday marks the first Sunday of Advent for Roman Catholics. As I listened to the homily of the priest this Sunday’s mass, it reminded me the real meaning of Christmas. The priest reiterated that Advent is from the latin word “adventus” meaning coming or arrival. The first coming is what we commemorate every year, the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ and the second advent, is the one that we need to prepare for, is the anticipation of His return.

As we get busy with the Christmas season, buying Christmas presents, preparing for Christmas parties and all the merriment of the season. Let us not forget to focus on the real star of this season. That is a good reflection indeed.

As always, since it is almost December, I still have not completed my Christmas list. So, we went to the Noel Bazaar at the World Trade Center to check it out and buy some stuff. This is me and my daughter goofing around at the entrance after we were done shopping.

Sunday is the time for loot bag packing in preparation for my son’s family day. Look at my young man helping me out. That’s one of the tasks of being a parent representative, arduous but fulfilling.

PBW60: Signal Corps’ Wreath Laying

by on Nov.21, 2010, under Pixel Bug Weekend, Special Occasion

For some reason, I always find myself super busy these past weeks. It’s probably because the Christmas season is fast approaching.

We woke up very early Sunday morning to attend a wreath laying for my departed Father-in-Law. It is in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Signal Corps. The Signal Corps is part of the Communications, Electronics and Information Systems Service, of the AFP (CEISSAFP).

The CEISSAFP Signal Corps has been pursuing efforts to ensure the military have the best communications systems to support its men. It’s indeed a great honor that they are paying homage to Signal Corps soldiers who have served the nation especially those who have went ahead of them. The small ceremony was held at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Fort Bonifacio. We also took the time to offer our prayers at the grave of my Father-in-Law.

After the ceremony, we grabbed the opportunity to hear mass at the St. Michael the Archangel Parish which is just nearby.

Unfortunately, we were so in a hurry that I forgot to bring my camera. Good thing I have the camera phone handy. All photos were taken using my Samsung Wave.

I love to hear how your weekend went. Just leave your links and I will follow….
Have a good week ahead!

PBW59: Eco March

by on Nov.14, 2010, under Beauty of Nature, Kids, Parks and Recreational Places, Pixel Bug Weekend, Social Awareness

This week was extremely busy for me (pardon me if I wasn’t able to leave any comments) but I was so happy that it ended with a high note…. Manny Pacquiao once again gave us a reason to be proud. Congratulations Congressman Pacquiao!

Anyway, the highlight of the weekend was a tree planting activity sponsored by Lotte, the makers of Koala’s March and Xylitol and in cooperation with ABS-CBN Foundation. The tree planting activity was held at the La Mesa Eco Park. My son’s school was invited to be part of this event and I gladly accompanied him. Whenever we get invited an activity like this, I always make it a point to join. This is because I want to raise awareness regarding the importance of saving the environment.

Eco March Stage

Lotte General Manager, Mr. Gerry Francia and his son headed the ceremonial tree planting activity while a representative from ABS-CBN Foundation taught us the technique on how successfully plant a tree. Lotte’s cuddly mascot was also there to witness the event.

Ceremonial Tree Panting

Although the kids were not able to really plant a “real tree” because it is off-planting season, they were only allowed to plant a seedling.

Our boys were so excited to plant …

Now, proud of his achievement.

Yey! I am done...

I am so proud of my boy! We went home with all the dirt on our shoes and smelling like sweat… but it was all worth it.

I hope that you all had time to recharge this weekend.
