Just arrived in LA, and here we are straight from the airport. Some sort of a reunion on the part of my hubby’s family.
Sorry for the short post. Kinda jet lagged….

PBW47: A night of Flamenco
by SassyMom on Aug.15, 2010, under Pixel Bug Weekend, Sports and Recreation
It was Saturday night when we went back to Barcino Wine Tapas Bar to witness a night of Flamenco Dance.

This is my first time to watch Flamenco dance performance live. Thanks to my youngest sister who was persistent on watching this lovely performance.

I was amazed at how graceful these dancers are and their footwork is remarkable. How I wish I could dance as gracefully as them. My daughter told me to enroll so that I have a past time when I retire. I just laughed at the thought cause I am never really good at dancing.
The performance of their solo dancers is astonishing. The grace, the poise and their elegance while they execute their routines is really something to be envious of. Below is the photo of Emma de Leon (lower photos) and Katsie Llave (upper photos) both from Fundacion Centro Flamenco.

You can still catch these Flamenco dancers perform every Saturdays of August at Barcino Wine Tapas Bar, Greenbelt, Makati.
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

PBW46: MILO Litte Olympics
by SassyMom on Aug.08, 2010, under Kids, Pixel Bug Weekend, Sports and Recreation
I woke up 4 o’clock in the morning Saturday to help my daughter prepare for her cheer leading competition. Her school is participating in the MILO Little Olympics.
The competition was held at the Marikina Sports Complex. It was a hot day with rain clouds threatening to pour any moment. The team were so excited even the parents. We braved to scorching heat, never mind the sweat as long as our girls are enjoying.
Here are some of the photos I took as they await for the competition to begin. You can see them fixing their props, offering a prayer and just having a good time.
We prayed for a cooler day but with no rain. It was the first time they will be doing their routine on open ground. If the rain will pour, they will have to forfeit themselves since it will be too dangerous for the girl to be flipping around with rain pouring on them. Good thing our prayers were heard.
A photo of the girls as they await the announcement of winners.
And the winner is ….
SPCP PEP Squad – High School Division

Congratulations SPCP for bagging the grand slam in the 2010 MILO Little Olympics – NCR Division.
Now off to the National Finals… (keeping our finger crossed)
PBW45: A prince turned one
by SassyMom on Aug.01, 2010, under Pixel Bug Weekend, Special Occasion
Last Saturday, me and my son attended a birthday party. The celebrant is the son of my high school batch mate. It was a themed party — “Disney Royalty” is the theme of choice. It was so cute to see all the children wearing the most adorable costumes. Of course, my son being a tweener refused to wear a costume.

This is probably the first theme party that I attended where even the parents wore costumes, like a King and Queen. Isn’t that cool?

Of course, a true Filipino party is not complete without Lechon.
Too bad I have to leave early because my son does not want to join the games anymore and he gets bored easily. It was truly a feast it for a prince. Happy Birthday, dear John Glenn!
It was a fun-filled weekend for us and I hope you also had a blast during the weekend.

PBW44: A quiet weekend
by SassyMom on Jul.25, 2010, under Kids, Pixel Bug Weekend
This weekend was definitely a quiet and relaxing one for me and of course, my family. It was raining the whole weekend, so we decided just to stay home and it was absolutely a breather for me. I got to finish a lot of my online tasks and did a lot of photo editing.
It was nice to see the family at home. Here’s my daughter doing her favorite past time — reading! Yes, reading using her PSP. She turns into an e-book! She’s not much into the games so she uses it to read. I honestly do not approve with this because I am afraid it will put so much strain on her eyes but it’s hard to argue with teenagers so I just let it be, as long as she takes a rest.

And of course, here’s my little boy doing what he does best … Annoy her sister!
![]()
You might be thinking, good thing my daughter does not get annoyed! Well, that all depends on her mood. There are times where she gets easily irritated and this picture will definitely result in a brawl. This time around, she is definitely in a light mood. She just let her little brother be. I guess she’s so engrossed with her reading
The whole gang also requested me to cook their all-time favorite spaghetti, so I gladly obliged. You can find the recipe here.

It’s definitely one relaxing weekend. I hope you all enjoyed your weekend too!

PBW43: An afternoon at Centris Walk
by SassyMom on Jul.18, 2010, under Kids, Parks and Recreational Places, Pixel Bug Weekend
Last Saturday, we decided to drop by Centris Walk and check out what stores are already open. To my delight, my favorite Frozen Yogurt store, Tutti Frutti, is already open. We asked Hubs to drop us off there while he is in a meeting.
We discovered that they placed a small playground in the middle. Sadly for my daughter and his friends they could only sit on the slide for a pose. Since the guards were strict on the age limit, only kids ages 5-12 are allowed.
So it was only my lil’ boy (who is not so little anymore) who enjoyed the playground.
He even rode the carousel. Look at him enjoying the ride even though he’s quite big for it. I’m savoring this moment while he still feels like a child cause soon I know he’ll find this too childish.
After that very enjoyable afternoon, the kids gladly accompanied me to do the weekly grocery.
Weekends are really something I look forward to especially when I spend it with my kids. No matter what we do, even if we just stay at home, it’s the time together that I find very fulfilling. It’s priceless.
What about you? How did your weekend go? I hope you also enjoyed your weekend. Share it with us….

PBW42: JOHNSON’S Bedtime Believers
by SassyMom on Jul.11, 2010, under Pixel Bug Weekend
Last Saturday, I was able to attend Johnson & Johnson’s Baby Bedtime Discoveries culminating activity. It was November of last year that I was invited to attend the first of the series of events titled JOHNSON’S® Baby Bedtime Discoveries: Bedtime A to Zzz’s. After that, they had subsequent gathering of bloggers which were aimed to share the importance of baby sleep and impart techniques to help babies get that good night’s rest. Unfortunately, my schedule did not permit me to attend those weekends that’s why I made sure that to attend this culminating activity.
Blogger events are always a welcome break from my busy schedule. I look forward to meeting new faces and of course catching up with old friends.
It was a nice gesture from JOHNSON’S® to award deserving mommy bloggers who have taken an effort to blog about they have learned regarding the science of sleep. JOHNSON’S® Baby Group Brand Manager, Christine Balingit took the stage and acknowledged everyone for spreading the good news.
The awards were given to MommyCow for The Bedtime Believer – Science of Sleep Award; The Bedtime Believer Magic Of You Award was given to Mommy Paula of Happy Thoughts and The True Bedtime Believer Award was given to Pehpot of Make or Break. Congratulations to all the winners! ![]()
I hope you all enjoyed your weekend as well. Also, I’d like to apologize for not commenting on your entries on time but I do visit them whenever, it’s the commenting part that gives me a challenge when I am mobile. My schedule has been very crazy especially with the kids now back in school. I hope you all will continue to be part of Pixelbug Weekend and hope you can invite your friends to join.
