PBW60: Signal Corps’ Wreath Laying
by SassyMom on Nov.21, 2010, under Pixel Bug Weekend, Special Occasion
For some reason, I always find myself super busy these past weeks. It’s probably because the Christmas season is fast approaching.
We woke up very early Sunday morning to attend a wreath laying for my departed Father-in-Law. It is in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Signal Corps. The Signal Corps is part of the Communications, Electronics and Information Systems Service, of the AFP (CEISSAFP).

The CEISSAFP Signal Corps has been pursuing efforts to ensure the military have the best communications systems to support its men. It’s indeed a great honor that they are paying homage to Signal Corps soldiers who have served the nation especially those who have went ahead of them. The small ceremony was held at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Fort Bonifacio. We also took the time to offer our prayers at the grave of my Father-in-Law.

After the ceremony, we grabbed the opportunity to hear mass at the St. Michael the Archangel Parish which is just nearby.

Unfortunately, we were so in a hurry that I forgot to bring my camera. Good thing I have the camera phone handy. All photos were taken using my Samsung Wave.
I love to hear how your weekend went. Just leave your links and I will follow….
Have a good week ahead!
PBW59: Eco March
by SassyMom on Nov.14, 2010, under Beauty of Nature, Kids, Parks and Recreational Places, Pixel Bug Weekend, Social Awareness
This week was extremely busy for me (pardon me if I wasn’t able to leave any comments) but I was so happy that it ended with a high note…. Manny Pacquiao once again gave us a reason to be proud. Congratulations Congressman Pacquiao!
Anyway, the highlight of the weekend was a tree planting activity sponsored by Lotte, the makers of Koala’s March and Xylitol and in cooperation with ABS-CBN Foundation. The tree planting activity was held at the La Mesa Eco Park. My son’s school was invited to be part of this event and I gladly accompanied him. Whenever we get invited an activity like this, I always make it a point to join. This is because I want to raise awareness regarding the importance of saving the environment.
Lotte General Manager, Mr. Gerry Francia and his son headed the ceremonial tree planting activity while a representative from ABS-CBN Foundation taught us the technique on how successfully plant a tree. Lotte’s cuddly mascot was also there to witness the event.
Although the kids were not able to really plant a “real tree” because it is off-planting season, they were only allowed to plant a seedling.
Our boys were so excited to plant …
My boy busy putting in the soil …
Now, proud of his achievement.
I am so proud of my boy! We went home with all the dirt on our shoes and smelling like sweat… but it was all worth it.
I hope that you all had time to recharge this weekend.

PBW58: Rainy afternoon at the Driving Range
by SassyMom on Nov.07, 2010, under Family Get-Together, Pixel Bug Weekend, Sports and Recreation
Semestral break is over for my children and they are back to school. I made sure that they have accomplished everything at the start of their vacation so they can enjoy the rest of the week.
Hubs also made it a point to spend some bonding time with the kids by letting them join him at the driving range. The heavy downpour did not stop the gang from having a great time.
It was my kid’s first time so they got a little coaching from their Papa.
“Focus on the ball.” That is one very important technique you should learn when you are playing golf.
The kids got hungry after that strenuous activity. Seeing them so happy together is just truly priceless.
I hope everyone had loads of fun this weekend.

PBW57: Prayers for our departed loved ones
by SassyMom on Oct.31, 2010, under Family Get-Together, Halloween, Pixel Bug Weekend
If there is one thing unique to the Filipinos is how we remember our departed loved ones. I get amazed at how people really prepare for the All Saint’s Day and All Soul’s Day feast.
Family member take this opportunity to stay in the cemetery for the whole day or even stay over night at the grave of their loved ones. They will put up tents and bring food for the family to share. They even take this opportunity to hold a little family reunion as they pray and feast. The photo below shows how cemeteries can be very crowded during this occasion, however this is just the beginning wait till the sun goes down and you would have a hard time looking for parking because of the crowd.

My husband’s family also make it a point to offer a prayer for my Father-in-law and takes this time to gather as one family. Although, we do not stay long and we usually do it even before the crowd starts coming in.

My son was in my womb when FIL died, that’s why he never got the chance to know him but I make it a point that he remembers his lolo (grandfather).

Of course, a family gathering will not be complete without a simple feast. So after offering our prayers, we headed out to Max’s to take our late lunch.
As we celebrate the feast of the souls, besides the merriment and the feast, let us not forget to offer our prayer for our dearly departed loved ones.
Hope you all enjoyed this long weekend. Happy Halloween!

PBW56:Happy Birthday, my dear Sis!
by SassyMom on Oct.24, 2010, under Family Get-Together, Pixel Bug Weekend, Special Occasion
Sunday was spent at my Mom’s house, since it is a long weekend here in the Philippines (due to the Barangay Elections). At least, I do not have to worry that the kids need to go home early. Fortunately, it is also my sister’s birthday so the kids have all day to bond with their Tita.
My sis decided to treat us for dinner at Chef’s Table located at The Infinity Tower, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig. Chef’s Table is a dinner by reservation restaurant which serve Filipino cuisine with a twist. It’s the latest freestyle dining in the Metro.
My mom and the birthday girl…
Hubs and me…
The celebrant with my brother and Chef Bruce Lim (the owner of Chef’s Table)
I think it was a good choice that we decided to dine here. I only have three things to say: The place is cozy, the food is exquisite and the service is superb. I am always biased to good service, with all the restaurants sprouting like mushrooms in the Metro, good service will definitely give you an edge. At Chef’s Table, the waiters will make sure that you have everything you ordered and once in a while Chef Bruce will come to your table and ensure if you’re doing just fine. That’s what I call personal touch, which is an edge in terms of customer satisfaction.
Of course, no birthday celebration is complete without a birthday cake. I decided to give her Estrel’s Caramel cake which is just so temptingly delicious.

To my dear Sister: Happy, Happy Birthday! May the good Lord give you your heart’s desire. We love you!
I hope you all had a blast this weekend.

PBW55: Baby Shower
by SassyMom on Oct.18, 2010, under Pixel Bug Weekend
A baby is a gift from heaven that’s why we always celebrate the coming of a new life. This weekend my friends from my son’s school decided to throw a baby shower for one of our “girl friends”.
I always love cutie baby stuff. Look at how cute the cupcakes, the cookies and the cake.
A closer look at the cake. The cake doesn’t just look good but it tastes good too. The icing isn’t that sweet and it’s not hard too. Yumm!

The blooming mom! I pray that you have a safe delivery and may the good Lord grant both of you health and happiness.

Stay safe y’all especially for my friends here in Pinas, the threat of typhoon Juan is still up.

PBW54:Birthdays and Weekend
by SassyMom on Oct.10, 2010, under Family Get-Together, Kids, Pixel Bug Weekend
I just love weekends especially if there’s an event worth celebrating and of course, birthdays should always be remembered. Today, my hubby’s niece, who happens to be my gad-daughter too, celebrated her 7th birthday. It was a simple family gathering for my hubby’s side of the family. An event like this is always a good excuse for them to bond.
![]()
A family get-together like this is also a chance for my kids to bond with their cousins. It just makes me happy to see them have a good time. Especially since the kids do not have cousins on my side of the family.
![]()
Regardless of how simple it is, birthdays should always be celebrated because it is a way of thanksgiving for the gift of a beautiful life.

To our dear Alyssa, Happy Birthday! I wish you happiness and content, and continue to be a sweet child and bring joy to your family. We love you!

PBW53: An afternoon at the Venice Piazza
by SassyMom on Oct.03, 2010, under Philippine Travel, Pixel Bug Weekend
Sunday after lunch was dedicated to a meeting with our business partner and the venue was at the Venice Piazza @ Mckinley Hills in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig. Believe it or not, it’s my first time here. I was amazed at how fast the developments are. I believe I have once passed by this strip but there were just digging up and look at it now.
![]()
Although not all locators are open yet, I am sure most of this will be open in time for Christmas season. This is just the the first phase of the Venetian Mall, a three-hectare retail commercial complex which is part of the development of Mckinley Hills.
![]()
The mall wants to achieve a feel of Venice, Italy with its architecture and design. I believe they also want to be the first to have a man-made canal where you can ride the Gondola. We’ll watch out for that.
![]()
For now since it’s a nice gloomy afternoon, I’ll treat myself to a Light Caramel Capuccino at Figaro.

So, how did you spend your weekend?
