PBW52: Sandalias Festival 2010
by SassyMom on Sep.26, 2010, under Events, Pixel Bug Weekend
I was fortunate to get an invite from Elro Corporation to attend the “Sandalias Festival 2010″. Together with other bloggers, we had fun as we graced this event. It is the culminating activity of a 2-day event.
Anyone can get an event pass for every purchase of Ipanema, Ipanema Gisele Bündchen, Grendha and Rider starting from September 1 until 12nn of September 26 (till 12 noon). The event was held at the Trinoma Activity Center where event pass holder can enjoy different activities such as Body Tattoo…
Nail Art…
Or take the challenge in wall climbing …
There were also other activities such as the Ride ‘N Surf challenge and for those aching soles, you can also avail of the free foot massage. We were also entertained by the Steps Dancers as they highlight the different footwear distributed by ELRO Corporation.
Of course, the highlight of the event was the chance to participate in Sandalias Festival’s most unique attraction – the Giant Piñata. It’s a giant Ipanema flip-flops filled with freebies including gift certificates from Ipanema, Ipanema Gisele Bündchen, Grendha, Rider and products from other sponsors – Lay Bare, Planet Sports, Dermclinic, Nivea Sun Immediate Protection Lotion, Orly Nail Lacquers , L’Oreal Paris for Men White Activ Moisturizer, Summit Media Magazines; as well as an air ticket to Boracay from Cebu Pacific air and a 3D/2N accommodation at Discovery Shores, Patio Pacific or Fairways and Bluewater.
Look at how the audience eagerly awaits the shower of prizes.
As for me, I didn’t get a lot from that shower of freebies but I am happy with my loot — An Ipanema Gisele Bündchen gift certificate. This is actually my favorite flip-flops.
I hope you enjoyed the weekend like I did. I’ll be glad to hear about how it turned out, just leave your link below.

PBW51: Confirmation Rites
by SassyMom on Sep.19, 2010, under Kids, Pixel Bug Weekend
Last Saturday was my daughter’s Confirmation Rites. This sacrament is one of the sacrament of initiation and just like the Baptism it requires a sponsor. In my daughter’s case, it was my sister who stoop up as her sponsor.
![]()
The Sacrament of Confirmation is basically a renewal of the promises one has made during baptism, only this time, the person is fully aware of making these promises. And in order to do that, this sacrament is usually administered to baptized Catholics aged 12-16 or during adolescence. A very timely age to give this Sacrament as it grants the person the supernatural grace to resist temptation given the raging hormones and the need to fit in with one’s peers, the gift of the Holy Spirit helps the confirmed person to stay on the right track.

The anointing with chrism highlights the ceremony of this sacrament. Wherein the confirmand or the baptized person receives the indelible character, the seal of the Lord together with the gift of the Holy Spirit. The chrism is blessed and administered by a bishop.
In the Philippines, it is required for Catholic couples to be confirmed before they receive the Sacrament of Matrimony.
This is another significant moment in my daughter’s Christian life. That’s why even his little brother joined me as we witness this momentous day.

Of course, we all got hungry after and headed out to Yellow Cab for a quick meal.

I hope you all had a relaxing and fun weekend…

PBW50: Bye LA
by SassyMom on Sep.12, 2010, under About Me, Family Get-Together, Pixel Bug Weekend, Travel
We spent our last night in LA having dinner with friends at Thai Patio along Hollywood Boulevard. I know for a fact that Hubs really felt good having to be reunited with his cousins and friends. I also had the time of my life enjoying their company.

Photo opp before we head out to the airport. I had the grandest time during our short visit to the US. Thanks to the generosity and hospitality of all our families and friends. These people are the real treasures in life and nothing can beat that. Hope to be back soon!

PBW47: A night of Flamenco
by SassyMom on Aug.15, 2010, under Pixel Bug Weekend, Sports and Recreation
It was Saturday night when we went back to Barcino Wine Tapas Bar to witness a night of Flamenco Dance.
![]()
This is my first time to watch Flamenco dance performance live. Thanks to my youngest sister who was persistent on watching this lovely performance.
![]()
I was amazed at how graceful these dancers are and their footwork is remarkable. How I wish I could dance as gracefully as them. My daughter told me to enroll so that I have a past time when I retire. I just laughed at the thought cause I am never really good at dancing.
The performance of their solo dancers is astonishing. The grace, the poise and their elegance while they execute their routines is really something to be envious of. Below is the photo of Emma Estrada, the founder of Fundacion Centro Flamenco (lower photos) and Katsie Llave (upper photos).

You can still catch these Flamenco dancers perform every Saturdays of August at Barcino Wine Tapas Bar, Greenbelt, Makati.
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

PBW46: MILO Litte Olympics
by SassyMom on Aug.08, 2010, under Kids, Pixel Bug Weekend, Sports and Recreation
I woke up 4 o’clock in the morning Saturday to help my daughter prepare for her cheer leading competition. Her school is participating in the MILO Little Olympics.
The competition was held at the Marikina Sports Complex. It was a hot day with rain clouds threatening to pour any moment. The team were so excited even the parents. We braved to scorching heat, never mind the sweat as long as our girls are enjoying.
Here are some of the photos I took as they await for the competition to begin. You can see them fixing their props, offering a prayer and just having a good time.
We prayed for a cooler day but with no rain. It was the first time they will be doing their routine on open ground. If the rain will pour, they will have to forfeit themselves since it will be too dangerous for the girl to be flipping around with rain pouring on them. Good thing our prayers were heard.
A photo of the girls as they await the announcement of winners.
And the winner is ….
SPCP PEP Squad – High School Division

Congratulations SPCP for bagging the grand slam in the 2010 MILO Little Olympics – NCR Division.
Now off to the National Finals… (keeping our finger crossed)
PBW45: A prince turned one
by SassyMom on Aug.01, 2010, under Pixel Bug Weekend, Special Occasion
Last Saturday, me and my son attended a birthday party. The celebrant is the son of my high school batch mate. It was a themed party — “Disney Royalty” is the theme of choice. It was so cute to see all the children wearing the most adorable costumes. Of course, my son being a tweener refused to wear a costume.
![]()
This is probably the first theme party that I attended where even the parents wore costumes, like a King and Queen. Isn’t that cool?
![]()
Of course, a true Filipino party is not complete without Lechon.
Too bad I have to leave early because my son does not want to join the games anymore and he gets bored easily. It was truly a feast it for a prince. Happy Birthday, dear John Glenn!
It was a fun-filled weekend for us and I hope you also had a blast during the weekend.
