Cars and little boys

by on Jul.27, 2010, under About Me, Kids

If dolls are for girls then cars are for boys.

My son’s fascination with race started early. At around 4 years old, he watches Formula 1 races on TV with his dad. It was their bonding moment and he even idolizes Michael Schumacher at that time.

After seeing the movie Transformer, he immediately fell in love with Bumblebee or the Camaro. Once we saw a real yellow Camaro in a car showroom, he told me, “Mom, when I grow up, I want to own a Camaro.” I told him that he can do whatever he wants as long as he works hard for it.

Dreaming big as I may say but with his tender age, I only want to inspire him to be the best he can be. Although I know how expensive it can be to maintain such a car, I would not be the one to dampen his spirits. Just like any hobby, if you are really passionate about it, you will work hard to subsidize your leisure pursuit. While your at it, you always want to have the best. It’s nothing different from jazzing up your car with original Chevy Camaro accessories. Just thinking about it, excites me already. I am sure my boy will be doubly excited.

It always nice to support your child’s dreams and imaginations, it fosters creativity and will inspire them to strive hard.

PBW43: An afternoon at Centris Walk

by on Jul.18, 2010, under Kids, Parks and Recreational Places, Pixel Bug Weekend

Last Saturday, we decided to drop by Centris Walk and check out what stores are already open. To my delight, my favorite Frozen Yogurt store, Tutti Frutti, is already open. We asked Hubs to drop us off there while he is in a meeting.

Tutti Frutti a Centris Walk

We discovered that they placed a small playground in the middle. Sadly for my daughter and his friends they could only sit on the slide for a pose. Since the guards were strict on the age limit, only kids ages 5-12 are allowed.

Iana and Nicole

So it was only my lil’ boy (who is not so little anymore) who enjoyed the playground.

He even rode the carousel. Look at him enjoying the ride even though he’s quite big for it. I’m savoring this moment while he still feels like a child cause soon I know he’ll find this too childish.

After that very enjoyable afternoon, the kids gladly accompanied me to do the weekly grocery.

Weekends are really something I look forward to especially when I spend it with my kids. No matter what we do, even if we just stay at home, it’s the time together that I find very fulfilling. It’s priceless.

PBW36: Enjoying the last days of summer

by on May.30, 2010, under Kids, Pixel Bug Weekend

A dip in the pool is one thing kids (and grown-ups) enjoying especially in the heat of summer. In a few weeks, school will start, that’s why I decided to give in to my kid’s when they requested if they can stay in a hotel. Three nights of hotel life for my kids is something they could not resist plus the fact that it’s free, who could ever say no to that?

All day air-conditioned room, breakfast buffet, and of course the pool. As my boy would say, “This is the LIFE!” Here they are enjoying their time at the pool and basking in the sun…

I joined them the whole day and night last Friday until we checked out last Saturday. My sister was the one accompanying them for the first two nights. We had dinner at a nearby Rai Rai Ken…

And since it was a rainy Friday evening, it was a chance for me to enjoy hot soup, Ramen, Batchoy style at Rai-Rai Ken…

Hubs joined us after work last Friday, here’s a photo of him and my son making the most of their time together before we leave. They look so cozy and cute together, I decided to take this photo…

The kids made the most out their summer and as a mom, it’s always a pleasure to see that your children are having a blast.

I hope you and your family enjoyed the weekend as well. If you want to share with us your weekend by leaving your link.

PBW27: Earth Hour and Mom’s Bday

by on Mar.28, 2010, under About Me, Family Get-Together, People, Pixel Bug Weekend

We spent Earth Hour at our friends house. It was a welcome change from the usual stay at home since the kids get to enjoy the company of other kids and enjoy global action to change. It was like camping under the moonlight. Here are the kids enjoying the food as they await the lights off.

Kids await the time

They played with glow sticks and ate all night long. It was truly an enjoyable night with close friends as we do it for a worthy cause.

Sunday was the day we celebrated my Mom’s birthday by checking in one of the nearby hotels. The kids had a blast as they go in for a dip in the pool with my sister.

We ended the night by having dinner at Arya Persian Restaurant.

PBW25: Review Time and Family Get-Together

by on Mar.14, 2010, under Family Get-Together, Pixel Bug Weekend

It’s the kids last week in school and that means exam week. Exam weekend is supposed to be dedicated to reviewing. Since I still personally tutor my son, I decided to make the review a week earlier in order to avoid cramming. That way he can still have some relaxation the day before the exam.

Reviewing

This Sunday we had lunch at my cousin-in-law’s house to celebrate the birthday of my hubby’s aunt. It was a simple family get-together.

As in any family gathering, it’s always nice to touch base with relatives and friends…

The kids get to play and bond with each other…

And of course feast on the scrumptious meal on the table as we all watch the Pacquiao-Clottey Fight. Congratulations, Pacman!

PBW23: Dart Tag Party

by on Feb.28, 2010, under Pixel Bug Weekend, Sports and Recreation

Boys are so into the toy called NERF nowadays. It’s basically a gun for kids with darts as bullets. Initially, I am so against buying toy guns for my boy, but seeing how safe it is to play plus his close friends all have it. It’s the mother’s soft heart that made me agree to buy this toy for his birthday.

But one cannot enjoy this alone, you need to play it with friends. Fortunately, his classmate decided to have a “Dart Tag Party”. The kids were so excited to attend. It was an intimate party held at their residence.

dart tag party
It was one of those moments that you get to see the boys sweat and play, which I believe is good for their generation. Since most of them can stay in front of the computer, TV or console game the whole day, this kind of play is a refreshing change. Reminds me of how filthy we get every time we play outside when we were kids.

Well, of course did have their own kind of enjoyment while the kids are at play. :-P

It was already night time when the kids decided to rest for awhile but still play :-) .
