PBW 12: Bazaar Weekend
by SassyMom on Dec.06, 2009, under Baked Goodies, Christmas, Kids
Christmas is indeed a time for shopping however, it is also a chance for you to grab all the possible earning opportunities. This weekend, I was fortunate to get a place in a small bazaar. The prospect of earning a little cash was quite appealing. I thought of selling my baked goodies, maybe I can chance upon someone who may want to order for their Christmas gift giving, who knows? My kids also took the opportunity and wanted to sell their old clothes, or whats left of it –since most of it was donated to the recent typhoon.
It was the first time for me to sell old clothes since my hubby is not a fan of selling second hand items. His philosophy is to give what you do not use, which is a noble cause if I may say. But then, I was able to convince him telling him that I also wanted the kids to experience how to earn their own money. An entrepremom raising entreprekids.

So it was a weekend at the bazaar but instead of shopping for goods we were the ones selling. The turnout was quite okay for first timers like us. Most importantly the kids enjoyed the stint and learned a thing or two in selling. Here are my kids with my daughter’s friend and my house help.

PBW11: An early Christmas present
by SassyMom on Nov.29, 2009, under Christmas, Pixel Bug Weekend, Special Occasion
Weekends before a big exam are always spent at home, that is our rule. As a mom, I try not schedule any activity during these weekends so the kids can concentrate on reviewing their lessons. Although it is a long weekend, a road trip would have been fitting but I am not complaining. I also want this much needed rest to regain my strength and to prepare myself for a very busy month.
In the photo below, my son is doing a mock up exam I have prepared. LOL! The poor guy woke up very early last Saturday to finish his Kumon and do one of the mock up tests.

Weekend was not as dull as it seems, it was actually an exciting one for me. Hubs and I went out to buy his early Christmas gift for me…. my new TOY!

Now, I just finished transferring my files to my backup hard drive and enjoying my new toy. Super duper thanks to my Hubs! Mwah!

PBW6: A visit to Luneta Park
by SassyMom on Oct.25, 2009, under Beauty of Nature, Kids, Parks and Recreational Places, Philippine Travel, Pixel Bug Weekend, Sports and Recreation, Travel
As a child, I have memories of my family visiting Luneta Park or Rizal Park and even having my picture taken at that place. Luneta is where the monument of our national hero, Jose Rizal is located. As a Filipino, I just feel that my kids should visit the place to have a sense of nationalism.
Last Saturday, I decided to take them there. More than the reason above, it’s also an excuse for me to take photos for my photography class. Luneta has changed a lot the last time I was there. It’s actually a lot cleaner than I remembered.
The first photo is a picture of my son riding the Kalesa — a horse driven carriage introduced in the Philippines during the 18th century. It is no longer a popular form of transportation, you hardly see them in the Metro except for tourist spots like this. The kutsero or the kalesa driver was so friendly, he actually allowed my son to be the kutsero during our ride. It was truly an exciting experience for my ten year old.

My kids are never afraid of animals which is a good thing — they just love to caress and play with them. Here you can see them enjoying their time with the horse.

One good thing about trips like this is that I can see my kids enjoying each others company. And as a mom, it’s a joy to see them like that.

I would have wanted to catch the sunset by the bay, but my boy insisted to ride the train that was going around the park… How can I resist?

I just have to settle with this sunset photo….

It was quite a tiring day for me and the kids but it was all worth it. Seeing the smile on their faces, I know this weekend will be part of their childhood memories.

LP : Tamad (Lazy)
by SassyMom on Oct.08, 2009, under Kids, Litratong Pinoy, Travel, Vacation

(According to our elders, “A lazy person will never reach his dreams.” Correct! and I agree with that. That’s why as a parent, I teach my children not to be lazy and be full of life in order to reach their dreams. But then, they’re kids and it’s normal to have episodes of laziness from time to time…. just like the first photo. My youngest was overwhelmed at how big the airport at NAIA Terminal 3 and seeing how long we’re going to walk, he requested his sister if he can ride the push chart and my daughter willingly obliged.
The second photo shows my sister and my daughter lazily lying on the bed. This was after a day at the beach and boat ride. Due to exhaustion, this was the first thing they did when they entered the hotel room …. the bed was heaven. I honestly would want to jump in with them but as a Mom, I can’t do that just yet especially during travels like this. I take care of everything… luggage, gears, esp the wet clothes — I make sure that they are dry before I even pack them. Since these two girls are big enough, after that shoot, I asked them to stand up and help out. Am I cruel??? Hehehe. No, I’m just teaching them a little bit of responsibility so they won’t turn out to be lazy when they grow up.)

I just love this shirt of my son… tough but funny! He loves to wear this shirt especially when he’s not with his dad, LOL! I guess its one way of saying that he adores his dad.
